Aalborg 0 -3 Manchester United

Aalborg 0 - 3 Manchester United

Dimitar Berbatov's first two Manchester United goals sealed a comfortable Champions League away win in Denmark.

Berbatov had squandered a fantastic chance to put the European Champions ahead but when Ryan Giggs - on for the injured Paul Scholes - played a superb pass to Wayne Rooney, the Englishman made no mistake to put United ahead. The Bulgarian did score his first goal for the club soon after half time after an almighty cock up by the Aalborg skipper - Berbatov half volleyed in from 20 yards to a feeling of almost disbelief.

His second was similar in technique but owed less to defensive inability and more to the quality of Ronaldo's wingplay, and United were settled.

Berbatov repaid the favour to Ronaldo moments later but the Portguese wizard could not find the net. Injuries to the very impressive Rafael and Rooney soured proceedings, but the scoreline reflected a very impressive away performance.

Ratings : van der Sar 7, Rafael 8 (Brown 7), Ferdinand 8, Vidic 7, Evra 7, Ronaldo 8, O'Shea 6, Scholes (Giggs 8), Rooney 8 (Tevez 7), *Berbatov 8
